Lunch. Learn. LIVE UNITED.

In 2013, the City of San Marcos adopted the Youth Master Plan designed to guide the community as we endeavor to provide the resources needed to help children and students be successful, contributing members of our community.  Written into the plan is a strategy to develop a systemic program of career exploration in partnership with local businesses for all education partners that creates student excitement for college, trade schools and soft skills learning.  To do that, the plan states that the community should build in systematic exposure to career exploration starting in middle school for all students that engages the business community.  To begin implementing this strategy written into the Youth Master Plan, United Way of Hays & Caldwell Counties created our Lunch. Learn. LIVE UNITED. program.

United Way brings together professionals from trades across the spectrum to inspire students at San Marcos High School during Lunch. Learn. LIVE UNITED sessions.  The goal of these sessions is to enlighten students on the various career paths to choose from, even within a single industry; what it takes to get to that point, the type of education or training required; and the demands of the job.
