TUTOR

Volunteers help school-age children improve their reading skills.  Sign up with the United Way Readers program, an initiative to place reading tutors in elementary classrooms in San Marcos and Hays CISD, to help ensure that all children are reading on grade level by the 3rd grade.  In addition, UWHC works with partner programs to recruit math, science and reading tutors for after-school tutoring sessions.

United Way of Hays County is working to ensure that all children are reading on grade-level by 3rd grade, the pivotal benchmark for struggling readers. United Way Readers volunteer in elementary classrooms, working with students who need extra help with reading, vocabulary, phonetics and writing assistance.
