United Way Joins Texas State University

San Marcos, TX – United Way of Hays County is joining forces with Texas State University this fall to create “Bobcats for United Way”, an new on-campus organization.

 

Bobcats for United Way gives Texas State students an opportunity to become involved with United Way and makes lasting changes in the community. Members of the organization can tutor or mentor a young child to help them succeed or even assist on or off campus in event planning and fundraisers. Being apart of this new organization provides students with opportunities to experience leadership roles, network and receive volunteer opportunities.

 

United Way of Hays County is a non-profit organization that advances the common good by investing in and developing programs that address needs in education, income/financial stability and health in Hays County. United Way also puts together community events such as Taste of Hays County and Sunday Stories. The next event to look forward to is Wine Walk on the Square, which is scheduled for Friday, November 14.

 

Joining Bobcats for United Way is an opportunity to help the Hays County community in areas like to education. In addition, students can earn service hours while making a difference,” says Brenda Lopez, president of Bobcats for United Way.

 

Students who are interested in joining are urged to attend the interest meeting on Monday, September 22, from 6 – 7 p.m. in the LBJ Student Center.
