UWHC teams up with Summer Fun

This summer UWHC is partnering with the City of San Marcos’ Summer Fun program to expand the Lunch. Learn. LIVE UNITED program to young students. UWHC is scheduling Hays County professionals to speak to students, ages 7-14, about obtaining and maintaining a career in which they find great passion. Students are encouraged to ask questions and engage with speakers. Local professionals are needed for Lunch. Learn. LIVE UNITED panels once a week through August.

Each child attending Summer Fun will also receive a book through the UWHC LIVE UNITED Library. The books distributed to students are provided through the Early Readers Become Leaders Book Drive, a partnership between United Way of Hays County, the San Marcos Chamber of Commerce, Texas State and other SOAR partners, as well as donations by First Book and Half Price Books.  Through the LIVE UNITED Library, UWHC aims to provide increased access of high-quality reading materials for children to enjoy outside of the classroom.  We hope to inspire a love of reading in our future leaders!

If you are interested in speaking about your career at one of the Lunch. Learn. LIVE UNITED sessions this summer, please contact Michael Yates at 512.353.1420. For more information about donating to the Early Readers Become Leaders Book Drive visit to donate; a $25 gift can start a child’s at-home library.
