Residents save $77,000 on prescriptions

Familywize and United Way of Hays County have paired up to provide savings to residents who struggle to pay for costly prescription medications.The battle to afford costly prescription medications is a tough reality for many residents who must face rising costs of basic necessities and a low fixed income.

Since the launch of the partnership between United Way of Hays County and Familywize, more than 1,200 Hays County residents have saved a grand total of $77,000 on prescriptions.The wallet-size discount cards are free to obtain and easy to use, the purchaser simply presents the card to the participating pharmacy at the time of purchase. Savings on prescriptions can be as much as 75% off of regular cost on all FDA approved medications.

The cards are available through UWHC and partners, and can also be downloaded and printed from the UWHC website.  Discount cards are accepted at more than 60,000 pharmacies nationwide, including frequented local staples like HEB, Walmart, Target, CVS and others. Any resident, insured or uninsured can obtain a Familywize prescription discount card. There is no waiting time or registration, simply print the card and begin saving. Insured users can use the discount cards during deductible periods and for medications that insurance does not cover.
