Early Readers Become Leaders 2014

DONATE TODAY TO HELP HAYS COUNTY CHILDREN READ TO SUCCEED

Reading aloud to a child is the easiest and most effective way to prepare a child for school.  Unfortunately, many children throughout Hays County do not have access to books at home for their parents to read to them. That is why for the past five years, the partners in S.O.A.R. (Seeking Opportunities, Achieving Results) have held annual book drives focused on collecting books for children, ages 0 to 6.

This summer…rather than asking for books…United Way of Hays County, along with our S.O.A.R. partners have a special request. The Early Readers Become Leaders Book Drive is asking for monetary contributions to enable our partners the ability to purchase specific, age-appropriate books that each Pre-K child will be able to call their own.

The goal is to provide 5 books for 750 pre-k children in Hays County as well as 3 books for every new baby born in Hays County through UWHC's Born Learning / Born to Read program. To do this, we need to raise $15,000.

Fortunately, through the generosity of the following donors who raised their paddles at the 5th Annual Taste of Hays County, we have already raised $3,200. A HUGE thank-you goes to:
