Mom Prom 2015

Reading aloud to a child is the easiest and most effective way to prepare a child for school.  Unfortunately, many children throughout Hays County do not have access to books at home for their parents to read to them. That is why for the past five years, the partners in S.O.A.R. (Seeking Opportunities, Achieving Results) have held annual book drives focused on collecting books for children, ages 0 to 6. 

This year…rather than asking for books…United Way of Hays County, along with our S.O.A.R. partners have a special request. The Early Readers Become Leaders Book Drive is asking for monetary contributions to enable our partners the ability to purchase specific, age-appropriate books that each Pre-K child will be able to call their own.  This is where the Mom Prom 2015 comes in.

Mom Prom 2015 will be held on Valentine's Day, Saturday, February 14, 2015, at the Embassy Suites Hotel and Conference Center in San Marcos.  Attendees will dine on a gourment, three-course meal and sweet treats and then dance the night away all for a good cause. 

All proceeds raised from the sale of tickets, $90 per couple or $50 per person, will benefit the Early Readers Become Leaders.  The goal is raise over $15,000 so that approximately 750 pre-k students in Hays County can receive a bag of books to build their home libraries.
